Thomas Jefferson Day School

The Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School opened in August 1993, and today has approximately 270 students enrolled in grades preK-12. The school is located in Joplin, Missouri, hit by an F-5 tornado in May of 2011. More than 40% of Thomas Jefferson students receive some sort of need-based financial assistance or scholarship, and scholarships are funded entirely by philanthropy. The school wanted a logo to be used for their 20th anniversary celebration.

Based on the Anniversary logo construction, the pieces were then used to build a typeface that can be placed beside the logo and other attributes as a display font. This typeface, Monticello was inspired and designed solely for the Anniversary.
